Internal Family Systems

"We are born with everything we need. We only need to uncover what is already there."
— Richard C. Schwartz.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a gentle and compassionate approach to therapy that helps us understand and heal the different parts of ourselves.

We all have parts that shape how we think, feel, and respond to life’s challenges. Some parts may be anxious, self-critical, perfectionistic, people-pleasing, angry, or protective. Others may carry emotional wounds from difficult experiences.

Rather than trying to get rid of these parts, IFS helps us turn towards them with curiosity, compassion, and understanding. As we develop a healthier relationship with our inner world, old patterns can soften, emotional wounds can heal, and we can experience greater calm, confidence, and connection.

At the heart of IFS is the belief that beneath our protective patterns lies a deeper core of wisdom, compassion, clarity, and resilience — what IFS calls the Self.

How Can IFS Help?

IFS can be helpful for:

  • Anxiety and overwhelm
  • Low self-esteem and self-criticism
  • Trauma and difficult life experiences
  • Relationship challenges
  • Perfectionism and people-pleasing
  • Emotional reactivity
  • Life transitions and identity questions
  • Feeling stuck, disconnected, or lost

IFS can also support personal growth, self-understanding, and a deeper connection with yourself.

What to Expect

Together, we explore the thoughts, emotions, sensations, and inner conflicts that may be showing up in your life. You don’t need to force anything, or revisit difficult experiences before you are ready.

The aim is not to become a different person, but to feel more connected to who you already are, beneath the protective layers.
